BLENDED ONLINE MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AID:
FOR THE AUSTRALIAN LEGAL PROFESSION
Each year 1 in 5 Australians will experience a mental illness. Many people are not knowledgeable or confident to offer assistance. Physical first aid is accepted and widespread in our community, however most do not cover mental health problems. Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) teaches people the skills to help someone who they're concerned about.
Adapted from the Standard Mental Health First Aid Course this course has been designed for legal workplaces that require increased flexibility in the delivery of training for their staff members.
Blended Mental Health First Aid Courses are an alternate online delivery pathway for our 12-hour Standard Mental Health First Aid Course (for adults assisting other adults). Blended MHFA Courses include two components:
Course Component 1:
A self-paced eLearning component (takes 5-7 hours to complete)
Course Component 2:
An Instructor-led component either face-to-face or using video conferencing technology.
MHFA Training Outcomes:
Increases mental health literacy
Increases confidence in providing mental health first aid
Decreases stigmatising attitudes
Increases the support provided to others
